Plains Zebra

Lines of zebras

In northern Africa, the plains zebra has only black and white stripes. Further south it has an extra brown ‘shadow’ stripe between the black and white colouring. The plains zebra can often be found in the company of the wildebeest, or gnu. The zebra eats the long, coarse grass with its large front teeth,
giving the wildebeest easy access to the short fresh grass.
