FAQ

You can call our Safari service at +45 40 90 34 70, they will come and assist with contact to Falck or similar. Knuthenborg does not provide vehicles if a car needs to be pulled free. Neither do they provide jumper cables if a car has run out of power. This is for insurance reasons.

As a starting point, you drive around in your own car in the park, as there are large distances and facilities with dangerous animals. However, there are areas such as Limpopoland, Dinosaurskoven, Museum of Evolution, Abeskoven and Tigerskoven, where you park the car and walk around on foot.

The driving speed is max. 30 km/h everywhere in the safari park, except Ulveskoven, where the speed is max. 10 km/h. Please give way to the animals, and be aware of young and lying animals – therefore only drive on the roads. To avoid traffic challenges, we encourage you to park on the grass in certain areas – see signage for this. All traffic in the park is covered by the Traffic Act.

Yes, you are very welcome to visit us by motorcycle or bicycle – or explore the park on foot. Please note, however, that the distances are considerable: The park covers 400 hectares, and there are many kilometres of roads within the safari park.

In enclosures with potentially dangerous animals, access is restricted to cars and buses only. Bicycles, motorcycles and pedestrians are not permitted in these areas. These zones are clearly marked on the map you receive upon arrival. Guests without a car or bus may move freely in all other areas of the park. Please note, however, that Bandholmmarken is no longer accessible without a car or bus, as exiting vehicles is now prohibited on Skovridersletten.

Please also be aware that it is not possible to rent a car from Knuthenborg Safaripark or to be transported around the park by Knuthenborg’s staff.

No, unfortunately it is not possible to leave the park and re-enter on the same ticket, pass, or booking on the same day.

Please note that different rules may apply to overnight guests during certain periods. If this is the case, you will be informed when booking your stay.

As day guests, you are welcome to bring your own barbecue and grill at Svanesøen. In all other areas of the park, barbecuing and open flames are not permitted. During very dry periods, barbecuing may be prohibited. In such cases, this will be clearly signposted.

If you are staying overnight in the park as camp guests, barbecuing is permitted within the individual camps and designated camp areas, as these are secured zones. However, you may not bring your own barbecue here, as grills are provided in the camp areas.

Yes, dogs are welcome when you are a day guest. They must always stay in the car with closed windows when you are in the animals' areas – i.e. Maglemermarken, Skovriddersletten and Bandholmmarken. The dog may not be brought into animal facilities, which are visited on foot – i.e. Nutiden, and the boardwalk as well as the panoramic window at Tigerskoven. At the boardwalk and panoramic window, a dog parking with a shade roof has been established. When you drive through Ulveskoven, the dog must not be in the car, but must be placed at the dog parking, with a shade roof, outside the facility – at your own risk. It is also not allowed to bring your dog in the exhibitions at the Museum of Evolution. Here, shade roofs have been set up, which you are welcome to place the dog at. The dog may thus leave the car in all areas where there are no free-roaming animals. It must always be led on a leash, and excrement must of course be removed. The dog is also welcome in Limpopoland, as long as it is on a leash. NOTE: Never leave the dog in a hot car!

Smoking is only allowed in the two areas marked on the map (at Limpopoland and Abeskoven). The rest of the park is completely smoke-free.

We have charging stations from Clever on the grass parking lot at Limpopoland, and on the parking lot at Dinosaurskoven. Here you are welcome to charge your electric or hybrid car. These are standard charging stations (not fast charging).

In Knuthenborg Safari Park, there are generally good conditions for both the walking-impaired, disabled and elderly. Everyone can equally experience the amazing proximity to the wild animals, and the beautiful historical park, without having to worry about stairs, sanitary conditions etc. - with the exception of petting goats, a few lookout posts and Elefantstalden. In our drive-through facilities with the large African, American, Arctic and Asian animals such as rhinoceros, giraffe, bison and wolves, it is possible to experience the animals from the car. The petting animals on Maglemermarken and Bandholmmarken often come right up to the asphalted roads in the park, from where wheelchair users also have the opportunity to get very close to them. The walking paths in the facilities, which are intended for walking traffic, for example Dinosaurskoven, kangaroos in Nutiden or Tigerskoven are covered with gravel or wood, and can be used by wheelchair users. The boardwalk at Tigerskoven has a ramp at one end and stairs at the other end.

Yes, you can easily borrow a wheelchair when you visit the park. Here you are asked to contact Guest Service, from where they will hand out the wheelchair. Please note a limited number of wheelchairs.

Unfortunately, Bandholmporten is not open for entry, but it can still be used as an exit.

We refer to Maglemerporten at the following address:

Knuthenborg Allé

4930 Maribo.
